PDP calls for fresh elections in Rivers State following Assembly defections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to formally request the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct new elections in the 25 state constituencies of Rivers State. This decision comes in the wake of the defection of 25 members of the State House of Assembly. The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP reached this resolution after a thorough review of the party’s situation in Rivers State. Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary of the PDP, conveyed this directive, emphasizing the party’s commitment to protecting the votes and mandates of the people in the affected constituencies. The NWC has instructed the national legal adviser to initiate appropriate legal actions in accordance with the country’s constitution.
