In the recent November 2023 diet of the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), a total of 3,963 teachers did not meet the required standards, according to Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). The council conducted the examination to assess the professional knowledge of educators within the educational sector.

Prof. Ajiboye revealed during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja that the examination, held at 38 centers nationwide, saw 15,753 participants. Of this number, 10,636 successfully passed, representing approximately 72.9%, while the remaining 3,963 did not meet the required criteria.

Additionally, the Registrar mentioned that some candidates were absent during the examination, while others faced result cancellations due to engaging in examination malpractices. He emphasized the TRCN’s commitment to enhancing the teaching profession in Nigeria.
