Tinubu reaffirms support for media freedom and public opinions

President Bola Tinubu has restated his commitment to media freedom and the acknowledgment of diverse opinions, whether critical or supportive of his administration. This assurance was communicated by Tinubu’s media aide, Mr Ajuri Ngelale, during a meeting with members of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) in Abuja.

Tinubu pledged to consider NPAN’s request for a review of policies impacting newspaper publishing and addressed concerns raised by the association regarding regulations affecting access to newsprint. Additionally, he assured that the Federal Government would alleviate the high costs of transportation during the festive season by granting waivers to airlines, road, and rail transport operators.

The president expressed his attentiveness to the ongoing situation in the country and extended gratitude for the support, opinions, and criticisms provided by the media. Tinubu emphasized the importance of the media’s role in holding the government accountable and affirmed his administration’s commitment to respecting diverse perspectives, whether in agreement or disagreement.
