NEMA and Benue State Government provide relief to victims of v#olence and floods

In a collaborative effort, the North Central Zonal Headquarters of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Benue State Government have initiated the distribution of relief materials to individuals affected by the farmers-herders’ v#olence and flood disasters in the state.

The distribution took place at the North Bank, Baka Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, located in the Makurdi Local Government Area of the state. Mr. Eugene Louis Nyelong, the NEMA North Central Zonal Coordinator, conducted the distribution, highlighting that the approved items resulted from a joint assessment conducted with the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).

Nyelong praised the efforts of Governor Alia and Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, for their unwavering commitment, which facilitated the timely release of relief materials to aid the internally displaced persons.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the state government, Mr. James Iorpuu, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, acknowledged the federal government’s support. He emphasized that the distributed relief items would significantly alleviate the difficulties faced by IDPs and victims of the floods.

Mr. Iorpuu, represented by Mr. Donald Komgbenda, the Head of Administration and Supply, urged the displaced individuals to continue supporting Governor Alia’s administration during this challenging period. The joint efforts of NEMA and the state government aim to provide crucial assistance to those affected by the unfortunate incidents of v#olence and natural disasters in Benue.
