Kyari expressed the commitment to ensuring the refinery continues to deliver value to Nigerians, stating, “We are done with phase one. We will complete phase two as promised within 2024, maximum – the last quarter of 2024.”
PHRC comprises two phases: an old refinery with a capacity of 60,000 barrels per day and a new refinery with a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day, resulting in a combined capacity of 210,000 barrels per day.
Earlier this week, NNPCL celebrated the mechanical completion of phase 1 rehabilitation of the Port-Harcourt refinery. It is noteworthy that in March 2021, the Federal Executive Council approved $1.5 billion for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the refinery. Recent data indicates that the Nigerian government has allocated N11.35 trillion ($25 billion) over the past decade to address issues with the country’s three refineries.
