In a statement released on Sunday, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, expressed concern over the prolonged legal battle that ensued after the election. Nnabuike recalled that the youth wing had earlier urged the Labour Party governorship candidate, Barr Chijioke Edeoga, to avoid taking the matter to court.

“We made the plea considering the amount of money involved in litigation in Nigeria and its attendant distractions to the government in power,” Nnabuike stated. Despite Governor Mbah’s victories at the Tribunal and the Appeal Court, the youth wing encouraged him not to prolong the legal battle.
With the Supreme Court’s final verdict, Nnabuike urged Edeoga to accept the governor’s hand of fellowship and contribute to the progress and development of Enugu State. Emphasizing the governor’s prior invitations to opposition members to collaborate for the state’s advancement, Nnabuike urged unity for the overall interest of Enugu.
Highlighting the importance of focusing on governance without distractions, Nnabuike encouraged Governor Mbah to concentrate on delivering positive outcomes for the people of Enugu State. He expressed confidence in the governor’s capacity to exceed citizens’ expectations in providing good governance and developmental initiatives.
