Shehu Sani condemns Plateau massacre: “A shocking act of inhumanity”

Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has expressed profound dismay in response to the recent appalling incidents that unfolded in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.

In a series of simultaneous attacks on over fifteen communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the state, assailants wreaked havoc, setting houses ablaze, looting farm produce, and destroying properties while brutally attacking residents.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, disclosed on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that the death toll in these Christmas Eve attacks has surpassed 115.

Reacting to this tragic situation, Sani took to his X account on Tuesday, sharing his sentiments on the horrifying outcome of the massacre. He mentioned watching a video depicting the aftermath and described the scene of a baby crying on the back of its deceased mother as nothing short of horror.

In his tweet, Sani emphasized the need for unequivocal condemnation and a demand for justice. He questioned whether society should continue the complicit practice of downplaying mass murder through the lens of religious or ethnic sentiments.

“The scene of a baby crying on the back of the corpse of its mother is horror that should haunt the conscience of every responsible citizen of this country,” Sani concluded. The incident, as he described it, stands out as one of the most cruel and evil acts of inhumanity he has ever witnessed.
