Federal Government affirms unwavering support for Super Eagles’ AFCON ambitions

In a resolute declaration of support, Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has once again emphasized the unwavering backing of the Federal Government for the Super Eagles as they strive to secure a fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Cote D’Ivoire in January 2024. This affirmation was conveyed during the minister’s address to reporters at the Ilorin International Airport on a significant Saturday.

The renewed commitment coincides with the unveiling of a 25-man roster by Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, on Friday, setting the stage for the eagerly awaited tournament. Senator Enoh underscored that the presidency is keen on a triumphant outing for the team and assured that all necessary support would be provided.

“We are hoping that we are going to make the best out of it. We have the full backing of the president,” affirmed Senator Enoh, emphasizing the collective aspirations for success. He further highlighted the pride and honor that would be bestowed upon the nation if the Super Eagles could clinch a fourth AFCON title, a decade after their last victory in South Africa.
