Nyesom Wike reveals resistance against offers to oppose Tinubu’s presidential bid

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has opened up about the challenges he faced when offered substantial incentives to work against the emergence of President Bola Tinubu. Despite the tempting offers, Wike stood firm in his commitment and actively supported Tinubu’s bid for the presidency.

Wike shared this revelation during his visit to the South-South Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Gaidom, in Gokana, Rivers State, on Saturday.

Reflecting on his stance, Wike emphasized, “When I was governor, Nigeria heard about Rivers State. That is what I have always preached. So, nobody should be afraid. I have no regrets when I stood by with my colleagues and friends that the presidency must go to the south.”

He went on to reveal the significant offers he received to deter him from supporting Tinubu’s presidential aspirations, stating, “There was nothing I was not offered. But I said no. That is why I will continue to support the government of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. As I am going back home, I am going with the satisfaction that my friend is back.”

Wike acknowledged that his visit might stir controversy and trigger visits from other political figures. However, he encouraged the people to discern and continue supporting leaders like Victor Gaidom who genuinely work for the well-being of the community, concluding with the phrase, “Follow who know road.”
