Ex-Oyo AG commends Tinubu’s swift action in suspending Minister over alleged fraud

Former Oyo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Oyelowo Oyewo, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s decisive action in suspending Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, over an alleged N585 million fraud. Oyewo views this suspension as a significant step towards building and maintaining trust with the Nigerian people.

In an interview with newsmen, Oyewo expressed that Tinubu’s prompt response to the financial scandal is a testament to his commitment to transparency and accountability. He emphasized that this sends a powerful message to Nigerians that ministers, regardless of their positions, will be held accountable for any financial impropriety.

“Tinubu has demonstrated that Nigerians should keep their trust in him,” Oyewo stated, highlighting the importance of such actions in fostering public confidence in government officials.

It is noteworthy that Tinubu suspended the minister on Monday pending the conclusion of investigations into the alleged payment of over N585 million into a private account.
