The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in three separate appeals challenging the election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State. The appeals were brought by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Kenneth Gbaji of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Ken Pela of the Labour Party (LP).

A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, granted approval for judgment after the parties involved adopted their final briefs of argument. The appellants called on the Supreme Court to invalidate the November 24 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Lagos State, which upheld Oborevwori’s victory and dismissed their case for want of merit.

Omo-Agege argued that the election did not comply substantially with the Electoral Act, pointing out irregularities in the recording of results at certain polling units. Gbaji sought a declaration that Oborevwori was ineligible to contest the election, while Pela urged the Supreme Court to nullify the entire election and order a fresh one, criticizing the verdict of the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
