Governor Mbah Urges Nigerians to Foster Unity and Denounce Violence on Armed Forces Day

Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has called on Nigerians to reject expressions of hatred and acts of violence as part of the events marking the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. Speaking during the wreath-laying and parade ceremony at Okpara Square in Enugu, Governor Mbah commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sacrifices, emphasizing the need for citizens to support efforts to ensure national security.

The governor expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, acknowledging the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price for the country’s freedom. He pledged the continuous support of the Enugu State Government to the security agencies and highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and security across the nation.

Governor Mbah stressed the responsibility of citizens to reciprocate the gallantry of the servicemen by promoting unity and security. He urged Nigerians to avoid hate expressions and acts of violence, emphasizing that only through such efforts can the nation honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives.

During the event, Governor Mbah prayed for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes and thanked the armed forces and security agencies for their role in maintaining peace and stability in Enugu State. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to supporting the security services in the state.

The ceremony was attended by heads of various government arms and military formations in the state, including the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Judge of Enugu State, and the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Nigerian Army. The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police Command, and the Commander of 553 Base Service Group, Nigerian Air Force, were also present.
