Adesina Defends Buhari, Dismissing Labels of Bigotry and Nepotism

Femi Adesina, former presidential spokesman, has defended former President Muhammadu Buhari against accusations of bigotry and nepotism, stating that those who label him as such do not truly know him. Adesina made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, following the launch of his book, ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023)’, which had dignitaries like Buhari, President Bola Tinubu, and ex-Head of State Yakubu Gowon in attendance.

Adesina explained the motivation behind his book, emphasizing the need for people to understand the real and true Muhammadu Buhari beyond different perspectives and narratives.

Describing Buhari, Adesina portrayed him as a patriot deeply devoted to Nigeria, emphasizing his fair-mindedness and respect for people’s religions. Adesina challenged the accusations of nepotism and bigotry, highlighting instances where Buhari demonstrated inclusivity and religious tolerance.

He recounted a personal experience when Buhari, despite not being the President at the time, flew from Kaduna to Lagos to attend a Christian program, showcasing his respect for religious diversity. Adesina refuted claims of nepotism, asserting that he has never witnessed such behavior in Buhari.
