The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Zonal Office has revealed in a situation report that the explosion at Adeyi Estate in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, was caused by Improved Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The distress alert for the explosion was received at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, prompting the deployment of mobilized response agencies to the scene behind Ace Mall in Bodija GRA, Ibadan.

Upon arrival, NEMA observed the suspected explosion of an IED, impacting over 20 houses. The agency, however, could not ascertain casualty figures, and search and rescue operations were ongoing.
Stakeholders involved in the response efforts included the NPF, NSCDC, DSS, SEMA, Nigeria Army, Federal and State Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross, State Ministry of Environment, and Amotekun Corps.
Additional resources are being mobilized to support the ongoing operations. The search and rescue operation, temporarily suspended for responders to refresh, resumed at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Security measures have been heightened in the area, with plans underway to provide further support for the operations. The situation, as outlined in the report, is now under control, and efforts are ongoing to ensure a smooth operation.
