Tinubu Approves Emergency Procurement of Tracking Equipment to Help FCT Combat Kidn@pping – Nyesom Wike

In a move to address the growing threat of kidn@pping, President Bola Tinubu has given approval for the emergency procurement of digital tracking tools, as announced by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.

During a media interface in Abuja, Wike revealed that the informants recently apprehended by security agencies in the territory are cooperating and providing actionable intelligence. The obtained information has already led to the arrest of some kidn@ppers, showcased by the Police over the weekend.

Wike emphasized the cooperation between security agencies and the information provided by suspects, stating that more attacks have been thwarted. He acknowledged the previous lack of adequate equipment and vehicles for security agencies, but with the president’s approval for emergency procurement, the situation is expected to improve.

The FCT Minister highlighted the importance of specific tracking equipment, citing an example from his tenure as the Governor of Rivers State. The unique equipment, capable of tracking specific phones to precise locations, played a crucial role in crime reduction.

With the president’s approval for emergency procurement, Wike expressed confidence in addressing the identified needs of security agencies promptly. He stressed the significance of not only providing equipment but also motivating security personnel.

Wike also mentioned plans to establish a Joint Task Force in the FCT with a full command and control structure, equipped to respond to security emergencies effectively. While recognizing the challenges and costs involved, he underscored the importance of covering the identified gaps in security.

Regarding informants, Wike assured the public that efforts have been made to address the issue, emphasizing that everything is being done to ensure the protection of lives and property.
