A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim injunction restraining the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct from taking disciplinary actions against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The order, granted by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, came in response to an ex parte motion filed on February 28, 2025.

According to court documents, the plaintiff, Senator Natasha, initiated legal action against the Senate, its President, and the committee chair, Senator Neda Imasuen.

The court granted her permission to serve the originating summons and accompanying documents on the defendants through the Clerk of the National Assembly, by pasting them within the National Assembly premises, or by publication in national newspapers.

Senator Natasha and Akpabio

The dispute stems from a heated exchange between Natasha, who is the Senator representing Kogi Central, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, after which she was referred to the committee for disciplinary action. Natasha, however, claimed that her ordeal was politically motivated and linked it to her rejection of alleged advances from Akpabio.

The court order effectively puts the Senate’s disciplinary process on hold, barring any further action until the case is heard in full. This development adds to the growing controversy surrounding the power struggle in the upper legislative chamber, which has seen its fair share of protests both by Pro-Natasha supporters and Pro-Akpabio supporters.

As the drama unfolds, fingers crossed on where this ends. We at Skiworld are sure to keep you posted.
