Sabastian Sawe Storms to Victory in 2025 London Marathon

In a commanding display of endurance and strategy, Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe clinched the men’s title at the 2025 London Marathon, finishing with a remarkable time of 2:02:27.

This victory is Sawe’s second marathon win, following his debut triumph in Valencia in December 2024.

The 30-year-old marathoner made a decisive move around the 30-kilometer mark, breaking away from a competitive pack that included elite runners like Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo and Kenya’s Alexander Mutiso Munyao.

Sabastian Sawe’s surge proved unmatchable, leading him to cross the finish line 70 seconds ahead of Kiplimo, who secured second place in his marathon debut with a time of 2:03:37. Mutiso Munyao and the Netherlands’ Abdi Nageeye tied for third, both clocking in at 2:04:20.

Sawe’s ascent in the marathon scene has been swift. Prior to his marathon endeavors, he set a Kenyan national record in the one-hour run in 2022, covering a distance of 21,250 meters.

The 2025 London Marathon witnessed a record-breaking turnout, with over 56,000 participants taking to the streets of the UK capital. The event also saw Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa set a new women’s-only world record, finishing in 2:15:50.

Sabastian Sawe victory in London not only adds to his growing list of accolades in the marathon world. As he continues to build on his impressive resume, the running community eagerly anticipates his future endeavors on the global stage.
