Nigerian Government promotes business opportunities for broadcasters and content creators at AFRICAST 2023

The government of President Bola Tinubu has called upon broadcasters, content creators, and producers from across Africa to explore business opportunities and address challenges within the sector. Information Minister Mohammed Idris delivered this message during the opening of the 2023 edition of AFRICAST, held in Lagos with the theme “Broadcast Content: Synergy, Finance, and Market.”

Mr. Idris emphasized the importance for broadcasters, content creators, and producers to seek new business opportunities, find solutions to industry challenges, and strengthen their networks.

The three-day AFRICAST event, taking place from Tuesday to Thursday, will engage in discussions about the latest trends and innovations in the media and entertainment industry. The event is organized by the National Broadcasting Commission, which is responsible for licensing, regulation, content evaluation, and frequency spectrum management.

AFRICAST serves as an investment platform for broadcast content and technology in Africa, fostering networking opportunities for broadcasters and broadcast equipment manufacturers. The event has a history of attracting influential figures from the local and international broadcast industry, making it a catalyst for forging partnerships, networking, mutual growth, knowledge sharing, and idea exchange among African broadcasters.

The 2023 AFRICAST event includes a unique feature called the “AFRICAST 2023 Content HUB,” which is the first of its kind in Nigeria. This hub aims to revolutionize the television industry in Nigeria and across the African continent. It will facilitate content acquisition, aggregation, licensing, and distribution of local and international programs across various film and television content categories. This initiative is expected to drive transformative change in the industry.

Minister Mohammed Idris anticipates that the conference will lead to new insights, connections, and partnerships that will contribute to shaping a brighter future for Africa and the global broadcasting landscape.
