The disposal operation is scheduled for October 27 and follows the commencement of a clearance operation at the blast site on October 10, named “Exercise Clean Sweep.” This operation has progressed well, resulting in the recovery of various types of unexploded ordnances that require professional disposal.

The plan for this disposal aligns with the framework established during the operation’s launch on October 10, presided over by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

The disposal process will involve the transportation of these unexploded ordnances from Ikeja Cantonment to the Nigerian Army Range in Owode Ajilete, Ogun State. The operation is scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During the disposal process, there will be loud sounds associated with controlled explosions, which are part of the standard disposal procedure. The spokesperson for the 81 Division assured the general public, especially those residing in Owode Ajilete and its surroundings, that these sounds should not raise security concerns.

Necessary safety measures have been put in place to guarantee the protection of life and property throughout the exercise. As a result, the local population is encouraged to continue their regular activities without undue concern. The Nigerian Army’s commitment to the safe disposal of these unexploded ordnances aims to eliminate potential risks and enhance overall safety in the area.
