Nottingham Forest Manager pleased with Awoniyi’s comeback after injury

Nottingham Forest’s head coach, Steve Cooper, has expressed his satisfaction with Taiwo Awoniyi’s return from injury.

The Nigerian international had been sidelined for several weeks due to a groin injury but made a comeback as a substitute during Forest’s recent 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Cooper emphasized the importance of having a central figure up front, highlighting the positive impact Awoniyi’s presence had on the team.

He stated, “With Taiwo coming on, he was initially meant to give us a few minutes, but we extended his time on the pitch. Having a number 9 out there made everything seem more normal and natural.”

Cooper further explained that players like Wood or Divock, who are familiar with the role, help enhance the team’s performance, enabling others to play in their usual positions and ensuring better connectivity.

Awoniyi has been in impressive form this season, netting three goals in just five league appearances for Nottingham Forest.
