The memorandum stated that all medical students in the College of Health Sciences, ranging from levels 200 to 600, should commence their one-month suspension starting from 8:00 a.m. on October 30th, with the resumption date set for Wednesday, November 29th.

Dr. Modom explained that the decision was based on a review of the recent actions and demonstrations carried out by these students on October 25th, along with reports from relevant authorities. The university’s management expressed dismay at the students’ defiant behavior both during and after the demonstration.

To delve into the underlying causes of the demonstration and recommend appropriate actions, an investigative committee will be established.

A top Management Committee of the College of Health Sciences has been instructed to implement the resolutions derived from the reports of various committees on the students’ demonstration.

Upon returning from the suspension, each student will be required to provide a sworn affidavit from a competent court attesting to their good conduct. They must also be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will sign an undertaking.

Furthermore, the Benue State University Medical Students Association (BESUMSA) has been suspended with immediate effect until further notice. The suspended medical students are expected to vacate their hostels on Monday, October 30th.

It’s essential to note that the academic activities of the 100-level medical students will continue as scheduled without interruption.
