Neville identifies key absences affecting Manchester United’s form

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has pointed out three players whose absence has been influencing the team’s performance.

During the Manchester Derby on Sunday, the Red Devils were outplayed, losing 3-0 to City at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag opted for Harry Maguire and Johnny Evans in the center of defense, with Sofyan Amrabat deployed in a defensive midfield role.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville suggested that Ten Hag would have preferred Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Casemiro against City.

“He has been dealing with injuries to players like Martinez, and Varane, who is just making his way back, so there are challenges in terms of building up from the back.

He doesn’t have Casemiro in midfield, which means he’s missing three players who are essentially key to his connection from defense,” Neville explained.
