Nyesom Wike Addresses Rivers State Crisis: “Not an Ethnic Issue”

Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has finally spoken about the crisis in Rivers State. He made these remarks after a meeting with governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.

Wike emphasized that the PDP has taken control of the situation and clarified that the crisis is not an ethnic issue, as some had speculated. There were earlier claims on social media suggesting that the situation in Rivers had an ethnic dimension, framing it as a conflict between the Ijaws and the Ikweres.

The Rivers State House of Assembly recently made an attempt to impeach Governor Sim Fubara. Wike commented on the internal party conflicts, stating that political parties have their mechanisms for resolving such issues, and it’s not an ethnic matter. He emphasized that parties know how to address their internal conflicts, and it’s ultimately a party affair.
