NLC and TUC urge President Tinubu to intervene in Ajaero’s arrest in Imo State

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Council (TUC) have jointly called upon President Bola Tinubu to intervene and address the situation involving the arrest of NLC President Joe Ajaero in Imo State. This request comes in the wake of violent incidents that transpired among members of workers’ unions in the state on Wednesday.

The arrest of NLC President Joe Ajaero occurred at the Imo State Council Secretariat in Owerri and involved the deployment of heavily armed security operatives. In response to this situation, the NLC and TUC, through a statement signed by Emmanuel Ugboaja and Nuhu Toro, strongly condemned the actions of Governor Hope Uzodinma in Imo State.

These labor unions expressed deep concerns regarding Governor Uzodinma’s approach to governance, characterizing the state as being marred by violence and lawlessness. They called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and bring the situation under control.

The NLC and TUC remain unwavering in their determination to advocate for the rights and welfare of workers in Imo State. The unions asserted that the recent violence has further strengthened their resolve and determination to stand up for the workers in the state.

The labor unions also voiced their disapproval of Joe Ajaero’s arrest and detention, emphasizing that such actions are unacceptable.
