According to Mr. Onche-Odaudu, the arrest occurred when operatives from the Keffi Area Command of the NDLEA were conducting a motorized patrol along the Keffi-Nasarawa Road on October 28, 2023. During a routine stop and search operation, a commercial vehicle was flagged down.

“During the search, the two suspects, 20-year-old Abdulraman Sani and 20-year-old Ibrahim Usman, were apprehended while en route to Nasarawa-Toto. They were found in possession of a locally made pistol and one cartridge, which were concealed in a black polythene bag,” he stated.

The suspects explained that the firearm was handed to them by an individual named Sani in Tashan Yaro, Katsina State, with instructions to deliver it to a person named Babangida in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

They further disclosed that Babangida was supposed to compensate them with N200,000 to be shared between them.

“They acknowledged that they were in possession of illegal firearms,” noted Mr. Onche-Odaudu.

The state commander also mentioned that the suspects would be transferred to the police for additional investigation and necessary legal procedures.

Mr. Onche-Odaudu emphasized the NDLEA’s history of effective collaboration with various security agencies, highlighting their commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities.

“In furtherance of this inter-agency collaboration, for instance, between 2022 and 2023 alone, at least four suspects have been transferred from us to the Nigerian Police Force,” he added.
