This decision comes after the CP faced allegations of partisanship, with the Labour Party and various stakeholders expressing their concerns.
Additionally, the Nigeria Labour Congress had demanded the removal of the police boss following an attack on its president, Joe Ajaero, in Owerri on Wednesday.
Responding to the calls for the CP’s redeployment, Egbetokun stated on Sunday night during a Channels Television program that the Nigeria Police Force had made arrangements to redeploy the CP.

Egbetokun clarified, “We are aware that there are allegations against the Commissioner of Police in Imo. Before the elections, we are changing the CP.”
He emphasized that this change does not imply that the CP has been found guilty but is being done in the interest of maintaining neutrality in the upcoming elections in Imo State.
