This decision comes after the National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal, which had previously declared the election inconclusive in September, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election within 90 days in 33 polling units where voting had not taken place.

Also in the running was Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
