The President of TUC, Festus Osifo, disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television, explaining that labor union members have collectively decided to withdraw their services in Imo State.
This shutdown will impact services such as airport operations, electricity supply, and the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) in Imo State.
The unions’ decision is a response to the recent attack on Joe Ajaero, the NLC President in Imo State, which has been widely condemned as barbaric.

“Both NEC of the Unions decided that, starting from Tuesday night, we will begin to withdraw services across the board in Imo State. This will include flight operations, electricity supply, and the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol).
We consider the attack on Joe Ajaero in Imo State as barbaric and fundamentally wrong, contrary to all norms and principles. The withdrawal of services will continue through Thursday, Friday, and the weekend. If the government does not respond to our demands, we will call for a total shutdown on Tuesday,” Osifo stated.
The unions have also declared their intention to initiate a nationwide strike on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
This move follows their earlier threat to strike in response to the attack on NLC President Joe Ajaero in Imo State.
The timing of this labor unrest coincides with the upcoming governorship elections in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states, scheduled for Saturday, November 11.
