Presidency extends congratulations to APC’s Usman Ododo on Kogi gubernatorial victory

The Presidency has conveyed its congratulations to the governor-elect of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, who emerged victorious in the recently concluded gubernatorial election. Ododo, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured the win over his rivals, Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Prof Johnson Urama, officially declared Ododo as the winner on Sunday, stating, “Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

With a resounding victory, Ododo garnered a total of 446,237 votes, surpassing his closest contender, Murtala Ajaka of the SDP, who secured 259,052 votes.

In response to the election outcome, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu expressed on X: “Congrats to APC candidate Usman Ododo for winning the Kogi governorship election. He beats the closest rival, SDP Candidate Muri Ajaka by over 187,000 votes.”
