Nigeria’s transition to renewable energy set to generate 340,000 jobs by 2030, says Federal Government

The Nigerian federal government has outlined its commitment to creating 340,000 jobs by 2030 and 840,000 by 2060 through a transition to renewable energy. During the German-Nigerian Symposium on Green Energy, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu emphasized the economic and job creation potential of the energy transition, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. Adelabu highlighted the role of gas in the transition and identified investment opportunities in solar energy, green hydrogen, and electric vehicles. The initiative seeks to address current reliance on diesel and petrol generators, with a focus on sustainable, affordable power for citizens. The German-Nigeria energy partnership also prioritizes hydrogen production and usage for a greener future.
