Speaking at a media briefing held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Damagum asserted that this cabal is actively working to subvert the will of Nigerians in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He alleged an ongoing scheme by the APC to “cripple democracy, overthrow the democratic rights of Nigerians, suppress the rule of law, and reduce our nation to a fiefdom controlled by the whims of a cabal.”

According to Damagum, it is crucial to alert Nigerians to the escalating threat of totalitarianism due to the activities of this cabal in the Presidency. He expressed concern about their efforts to weaken democratic institutions, particularly the judiciary, with the intent of subverting and overturning the expressed will of the Nigerian people in various election matters.

This assertion follows earlier claims by the PDP spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, who also accused the Presidency’s cabal of attempting to push Nigeria into anarchy and totalitarianism. Ologunagba contended that this cabal is seeking to manipulate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the judiciary to plunge Nigeria into a state of anarchy.
