Olaposi Oginni, the National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has attributed the legal challenges faced by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to the actions of the party’s presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Yusuf, initially declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Kano, now faces potential removal if the Supreme Court upholds the decisions of the election tribunal and the Appeal Court, both ruling in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oginni asserted that Kwankwaso played a pivotal role in the legal setbacks, accusing him of irregularities and electoral malpractices. He pointed to Kwankwaso’s alleged greediness and quest for power as contributing factors to the party’s predicament.

The NNPP Secretary contended that internal democracy suffered under Kwankwaso’s influence, leading to the inclusion of names of individuals who did not participate in the party’s primaries on INEC’s portal.

Blaming Kwankwaso for what he deemed an “avoidable embarrassment,” Oginni claimed that the party’s Situation Room, crucial for the 2023 General Election, was moved to Kwankwaso’s residence, further emphasizing the alleged lack of internal democracy.

Oginni disclosed instances of candidate name manipulation, citing Ajadi Oguntoyinbo in Ogun State as an example, asserting that this lack of internal democracy orchestrated by Kwankwaso resulted in the challenging situation faced by the NNPP in Kano.

In a bold assertion, Oginni stated that Kwankwaso and the defunct National Working Committee of the party were now facing the consequences, with nemesis catching up. He called for recognition of Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam as the founder and spiritual head of the NNPP, urging Kwankwaso and Governor Yusuf to openly apologize before the Supreme Court’s final judgment, emphasizing that “it is not over until it’s over.”
