The Police Service Commission (PSC) has provided an update on the ongoing recruitment process for the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). With the recruitment portal set to close on November 26, 2023, the PSC revealed that a total of 547,774 applications have been received within the five-week period since the portal opened on October 15, 2023.

Out of the massive applicant pool, 358,900 candidates have successfully qualified for the next phase of the recruitment process. This subsequent stage involves rigorous assessments, including physical tests, credential verification, medical examinations, and thorough background checks.

On the other hand, 84,606 applicants were rejected due to overage, as individuals within the ages of 18 and 25 are the specified eligibility criteria.

The state-wise distribution of applicants reflects interesting trends. Kaduna State takes the lead with the highest number of applicants, recording 40,272 submissions. Conversely, Anambra remains at the bottom with 1,664 applications. Other states in the top positions include Adamawa (36,398), Borno (32,048), Benue (31,122), and Katsina (30,202).

The rankings continue with Bauchi (30,604) in the 6th position, followed by Kano (30,004) in the 7th position. On the lower end of the spectrum, Ebonyi (2,132) is second to last, just above Anambra. Lagos (2,324) is fourth from the bottom, Bayelsa (2,651) is third from the rear, and Abia (2,796) is fifth from the bottom.

As the recruitment process progresses, these statistics provide insight into the distribution of applicants across states, shedding light on the regional interest and participation in joining the Nigeria Police Force.
