Akwa Ibom Assembly pledges swift approval for 2024 appropriation bill

Dr. Itorobong Etim, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, has assured that the 2024 Appropriation Bill will undergo a speedy passage before the year’s end.

Etim conveyed this commitment while addressing reporters regarding the 2024 appropriation bill presented to the Assembly by Governor Umo Eno. Encouraging collaboration, she urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to actively engage with the Committee during the budget defense process to facilitate the timely approval of the 2024 budget.

Representing the Uruan state constituency, Etim emphasized the government’s continuity, stating that the governor would build upon programs initiated by the previous administration. She assured the public that the Committee is ready to engage with MDAs to expedite the bill’s passage.

Etim urged heads of MDAs to cooperate, emphasizing the Committee’s intolerance for unnecessary delays during the budget defense proceedings.

Highlighting key priorities, the chairman mentioned that the governor outlined a focus on enhancing the agriculture sector in the 2024 budget to achieve food sufficiency for the residents of Akwa Ibom.
