In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Enugu, Okolie emphasized the need for noise-proof materials to be incorporated into the library building. This, she believes, is crucial to creating a conducive environment for readers to concentrate effectively.

Constructed over 50 years ago, the state library finds itself surrounded by bustling bus terminals and businesses, causing persistent noise within its premises. Okolie highlighted the importance of E-Library services as a necessary facility to enhance the overall library experience, potentially increasing the number of users.

Addressing the relocation suggestion, Okolie stated that moving the library elsewhere might not resolve the noise issue, as development would likely occur around the new location in the future. Instead, she proposed the installation of noise-proof materials on the existing building to create a quiet space for everyone to focus on their work.

While acknowledging a reduction in the number of users, Okolie mentioned that students tend to flock to the library in large numbers during examination periods. To encourage more usage, the library actively organizes library periods for children every second Saturday of the month.

The urgent appeal by the acting Director underscores the importance of creating a peaceful and distraction-free environment within the Enugu State Library to foster effective learning and research.
