Heartland Boss Boboye appeals for fan support amid relegation battle

Heartland’s head honcho, Kennedy Boboye, is issuing a heartfelt plea to the club’s supporters, urging them to stand behind the team during a challenging start to the season as they strive to steer clear of the relegation zone.

The Naze Millionaires find themselves in a precarious position, being winless in the Nigeria Premier Football League after nine games, placing them at the bottom of the table with just six points. Following the departure of former manager Christian Obi, Boboye has taken the reins at the Owerri club, determined to reverse their fortunes.

Boboye, a seasoned coach with NPFL title victories at Plateau United and Akwa United, is optimistic about transforming the club’s trajectory but emphasizes the pivotal role supporters play in achieving this turnaround.

Acknowledging the current crisis, Boboye stated, “We are lucky Heartland has its crisis now. As a coach, I normally pray to have my crisis early in the season because you can still rebuild, but when you have it towards the end of the season, if you don’t take time, you find yourself in relegation.”

In a direct appeal to the fans through the club’s official website, the 50-year-old coach implored, “I plead with the fans to still come out and support the team; we are going to turn things around.”

The upcoming challenge for Heartland involves an oriental derby against Enyimba at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Saturday. Boboye and his team are gearing up for this crucial fixture, hoping that the collective support of the fans will serve as a driving force in their quest for redemption.
