The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has raised concerns about the legitimacy of Chief Tony Okocha, the recently inaugurated chairman of the caretaker committee for the party in the state. In a statement on Saturday, Dalington Nwauju, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Rivers State, asserted that Tony Okocha is not a member of the APC and alleged that he worked against the party during the last election.

Nwauju, speaking on Channels TV’s program, criticized the appointment, emphasizing that Okocha had previously left the party to collaborate with Magnus Abe against the APC. He claimed that Okocha did not campaign for any APC candidates in Rivers State during the last election, questioning how someone who worked against the party could now lead it.
The National Working Committee, led by National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, inaugurated the caretaker committee, with Okocha appointed as chairman and Eric Nwibani as secretary. Despite the appointments, the APC in Rivers State is raising doubts about the eligibility of Okocha to lead the party and is questioning the legality of the actions taken by the Ganduje-led NWC.
