Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on medical professionals to join forces with the government in eliminating quackery within the medical field. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Association of Government General Medical And Dental Practitioners (NAGMDP), National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Osogbo, Adeleke emphasized the need for collaboration to address the challenges posed by quackery in the medical practice.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Akindele Adekunle, the governor acknowledged the significant responsibilities carried by medical professionals and urged them to resist the influence of quackery. He emphasized that the association should not encourage any form of quackery or substandard practitioners within its ranks.

Adeleke highlighted the damaging impact of quackery on patients’ health, stressing the importance of proactive measures to combat this menace. While acknowledging the challenges faced by medical practitioners, he assured the association that his administration is working on a comprehensive approach to address these issues, going beyond the recent approval of hazard allowances for medical practitioners in the state.
