The APC’s NWC recently announced the dissolution of the party’s executives in Rivers State and appointed a seven-member Caretaker Committee, led by Chief Tony Okocha, to oversee the party’s affairs in the state for the next six months.

In a statement titled “End of Progressive Politics,” Lukman accused President Bola Tinubu and the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, of promoting “Garrison Politics” within the party. He alleged that this move was paving the way for the emergence of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, as the new leader of the APC.

Lukman highlighted Okocha’s alleged ties to Wike and his visit to the National Chairman, where he accused Rotimi Amaechi of working against Tinubu in the last election. Lukman contended that these actions indicate a strategy to establish Wike’s influence within the APC in Rivers State.

Expressing concern over the removal of Senator Abdulahi Adamu as the party’s chairman and the installation of Ganduje, Lukman questioned whether Tinubu supported this decision, given Ganduje’s perceived alignment with him.

Lukman concluded by suggesting that similar executive dissolutions may occur in states where APC leaders may have opposed Tinubu, emphasizing the underlying political maneuvers taking place within the party.
