Peseiro anticipates a challenging friendly match as Nigeria faces Saudi Arabia

Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Nigerian men’s national team, is expecting a tough challenge in the upcoming friendly match against Saudi Arabia. The two teams are set to clash in Portugal on Friday.

This isn’t the first time that the Super Eagles have faced the Arab nation; they previously played to a goalless draw in a friendly match back in 2010. However, the Saudi Arabian team recently made headlines by defeating Argentina 2-1 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Peseiro, who previously coached the Saudi Arabian national team between 2000 and 2011, is well aware of the quality and capabilities of his opponents.

“Given that Saudi Arabia was the last team to defeat Argentina, I anticipate a challenging match. It will be a good test for our team, and we intend to start the match on the offensive,” Peseiro stated during his press conference on Thursday.

The friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique are crucial for Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Peseiro emphasized the significance of these games as Nigeria aims to secure a spot in the next World Cup.
