Emmanuel Ugwu, former Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel, leads the committee, with Nkechi Nnaemeka Isaac of the BCA chapel serving as Secretary. The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of identifying and recommending necessary sanctions for journalists deviating from ethical standards in the state.
During the inauguration at the NUJ Abia State secretariat, Victor Ndukwe, the Chairman of the NUJ Abia State Council, emphasized the need for the committee to operate without fear or favor. He urged them to handle reported cases in accordance with their terms of reference, underscoring that journalism is a noble profession practiced by individuals of sound character.
Ndukwe warned that journalists found guilty of unethical conduct would face sanctions based on the recommendations of the disciplinary committee. He encouraged journalists in Abia State to discharge their duties responsibly and professionally.

In his acceptance speech, Emmanuel Ugwu reiterated the committee’s commitment to carrying out its responsibilities impartially.
