Zamfara government vows to elevate sporting activities, seeks collaboration with SWAN

Isiayaka James, the Executive Secretary of the Directorate of Sports in Zamfara State, has affirmed the commitment of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to implement robust strategies for the development of sporting activities in the state. This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) from Zamfara State to the Directorate’s office in Gusau, the state capital.

Highlighting the significance of sports in the state’s priorities, Isiayaka assured the sports writers that the administration is prepared to offer support for the advancement of sporting activities at all levels. He emphasized the determination to reshape the sports landscape in Zamfara State under his leadership.

“We will ensure that sporting activities thrive as adequate attention will be given to the sector. With me at the helm of affairs in this organization, we shall reshape sporting activities in Zamfara State and change the narrative. I have promised to give sports writers in Zamfara the maximum support they require to come to limelight,” stated Isiayaka.

The Director of Sports, Nasiru Bakura, and the Director of Planning in the Directorate, Shehu Aliyu Zurmi, commended the State SWAN for their visit and expressed commitment to fostering a robust and harmonious working relationship. They urged SWAN members to maintain fairness in their reportage.

SWAN State Chairman Rabiu Dabbakal and Vice Chairman Theophilus Darofai congratulated Isiayaka James on his appointment and appealed to the Directorate’s leadership to involve SWAN in the planning and execution of sporting activities within and outside the state. The collaborative efforts between the Zamfara State government and SWAN are anticipated to contribute significantly to the development and promotion of sports in the region.
