In a statement titled ‘The Appropriation Bill: Seeing Beyond Semantics,’ issued on Sunday by the National Chairman of the party, Falalu Bello, the PRP expressed skepticism about the government’s commitment to genuine nation-building, citing questionable appointments and a lack of strategic vision despite claims of inheriting a depleted treasury.
Bello urged Nigerians not to pin their hopes on the 2024 budget, asserting that while the surface-level statistics and assumptions might appear promising, a closer examination revealed a lack of readiness for effective nation-building.
According to Bello, the government seems to be safeguarding the interests of a select few oligarchs, portraying it as a relic of the past without a clear path to the desired future for the nation.

He stated, “The 2024 budget, as seen and analyzed in this address, is one on which Nigerians should not place hope to promote development and protect their welfare. It’s just a cosmetic effort aimed at glorifying mediocrity and continuous impoverishment of our people.”
Bello called for the Town Hall Meetings by the National Assembly to serve as a platform for hearing from Nigerians and addressing the concerns raised by the PRP and other conscientious citizens, with the aim of steering the country towards genuine development and welfare protection.
