Rivers State Government explains decision to rebuild Assembly Complex

The Rivers State Government has clarified the demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, citing structural defects resulting from a recent explosion and fire incident. In a statement, Commissioner for Information Joseph Johnson explained that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, after inspecting the damage, deemed it necessary to reconstruct the building due to safety concerns caused by visible structural issues. The government had initially explored cost-saving repair measures, but experts advised against using the complex in its present state. An alternative venue has been provided for legislative activities during the reconstruction.
