Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has emphasized the pivotal nature of Manchester United’s upcoming match against Tottenham, suggesting that securing a victory in this fixture is imperative for United’s hopes of clinching a spot in the Premier League top four.

As things stand, Manchester United finds themselves in eighth place, trailing fourth-placed Arsenal by nine points and sitting eight points behind Tottenham in fifth. If results favor Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou’s side could potentially leapfrog Arsenal and claim the fourth spot.

Merson analyzed the significance of the match, stating, “If Tottenham win this, they’ll leapfrog Arsenal in the table, meaning the Gunners drop out of the top four. Manchester United, on the other hand, are nine points behind Arsenal and face an uphill battle to secure a UEFA Champions League spot next season.
