President Tinubu Approves Nigeria’s First Aeronautics University

In a landmark move for Nigeria’s educational and aviation sectors, President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the establishment of the nation’s first private aeronautic university, the Ibrahim Balami University of Aeronautics and Management (IBUAM).

This significant decision was announced yesterday, during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on March 3, 2025, at the State House.

The approval of IBUAM, which had been pending for four years, has sparked widespread jubilation, particularly among young Nigerians who have previously benefited from the initiatives of Comrade Ibrahim Balami, the university’s founder.

Balami, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s aviation industry and founder of 7Star Global Hangar and Airlines, expressed profound gratitude for the approval.

He described the moment as a major leap for Nigeria’s aviation sector, emphasizing his commitment to producing the next generation of credible Nigerian leaders.

Beyond the university, Balami continues to invest in aviation training through the Ibrahim Balami Foundation, which is currently training 160 young Nigerians in various aviation fields.

He emphasized that his efforts are driven by a deep love for Nigeria and a commitment to its progress, especially in the aviation field.

With the establishment of IBUAM, experts believe Nigeria is poised for significant growth in aeronautical education, potentially positioning the country as an aviation hub in Africa.

The approval of IBUAM is part of a broader initiative by President Tinubu’s administration to expand educational opportunities in Nigeria.

During the same FEC meeting, provisional licenses were granted to nine other private universities across the country, reflecting a commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s educational infrastructure.
