NNPCL eases concerns of fuel scarcity amid emerging queues

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has addressed concerns over the possibility of fuel scarcity, particularly with the appearance of queues in various parts of the country. NNPCL reassured the public in an official statement released by its retail subsidiary via its X account on Thursday.

The company identified the recent re-emergence of fuel queues in Lagos and some areas of the Federal Capital Territory as a result of reduced depot loadout in Apapa, Lagos, during the past few days. However, NNPCL emphasized that this issue has been promptly resolved and that the company has an adequate petrol supply for at least 30 days.

NNPCL encouraged motorists to refrain from panic buying, assuring that fuel distribution will return to normal in the coming days. The statement concluded by highlighting that the Federal Government had removed fuel subsidies in June, leading to an increase in the petrol pump price to over 617 naira per liter.
