The arrest, which took place on October 14, was made possible when a body scanner revealed that Mr. Egbo had wraps of ill#cit drugs in his stomach. Subsequently, he was placed under observation at the agency’s exhibit recovery room, where he excreted 93 pellets of heroin weighing 2.222 kilograms.

According to the suspect’s statement, he claimed to work at a chicken hatchery farm in Madrid, Spain, but was also involved in the drug tr@fficking business.

In another operation at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on October 16, NDLEA operatives seized a shipment of 10 cartons containing 500,000 pills of tramadol 225mg, branded as tapentadol. This cargo, which had been shipped from India through Qatar Airways, was purported to be a transit cargo to Monrovia, Liberia. However, a successful partnership and real-time intelligence sharing between the NDLEA and its Liberian counterpart exposed the attempt to smuggle the drugs.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI), who were attached to courier companies, intercepted a kilogram of methamphetamine concealed in containers of body cream destined for New Zealand. Another consignment of 2.5 kilograms of cocaine and phenacetin hidden in a carton was heading to Saudi Arabia.
