“This man (Owolade) has been to prison on several occasions. I recall that some time ago, we arrested him, he was prosecuted, and sent to prison over this crime. Surprisingly, after leaving prison, he continued with his criminal activities. He and his group stopped a motorbike rider late at night. On their way, the Okada rider was visibly attacked in the face with a screwdriver and other weapons in an attempt to steal his motorcycle. That’s how we got wind of him, and he was arrested. During the investigation, we discovered he had previously been arrested for the same crime, and he’s back at it again. We will prosecute him,” he stated.
The victim, known as Abbey, explained that he was attacked by Mr. Owolade and two other men after they hired him for a ride around 10 p.m.
“They met me at the cathedral junction in Akure around 10 p.m. and said they wanted to hire me to Lafee junction. I initially charged them N2000, but it was already late, and they claimed to have only N1000.
“So, I agreed and informed my colleagues at the junction to keep an eye on me because it was late. But during our trip, I noticed their suspicious behavior on the bike. Before I knew it, they attacked me in the face with a screwdriver and other weapons. I’m just grateful that I didn’t lose my life because it was a serious attack, and they attempted to steal my motorcycle,” he recounted.
