The Coalition of Civil Society Groups has issued a call to the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, urging the release of the police investigation report regarding the alleged m#¥der of Victor Obafaite and Jimoh Asimi.

Obafaite and Asimi tragically lost their lives following the 2007 House of Representatives election in Kabba/Bunu LGA. In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, Mr. Wisdom Chinedu, the convener, implored Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to take immediate action.
Chinedu called upon the IG-P to instruct the relevant authorities involved in the case to make their investigation reports available to the public.
He emphasized the necessity of uncovering the circumstances surrounding the de@ths of these two individuals and expressed doubts about the reliability of the previous committee’s findings.

Chinedu stressed the paramount importance of justice, insisting that the alleged mastermind of the attack should be promptly apprehended and prosecuted for m#¥der.
He demanded that all individuals directly or indirectly responsible for the mayhem that occurred in 2007 face legal consequences.
Chinedu highlighted that there are still witnesses available who can testify against the perpetrators.
He underscored the urgency of these actions, pointing out violent threats in the ongoing governorship election campaign, along with allegations of known cultists being engaged to disrupt the election.
Chinedu stressed the significance of upholding the democratic progress made since 1999.
